Gentle rain
It comes
Stays awhile
At first I try to shield myself from it
Not wanting to get wet
Disturbing how I have presented myself
On the outside
But then as I feel the discomfort
I pause
And breathe
Deeply
Experiencing every sensation
That the drops of water create
First a slow pricking
And then increasing to the rapid flow
In a few moments time
I am bathing in it
And it is washing me clean
Pouring over my body
Covering me fully
Like a comforting blanket
As I feel how it now embraces my skin
And I breathe in
I inhale the scent of it
The rain
Refreshing
Nourishing my soul
Soothing every crevice
And healing every wound
That may lay hidden
Beneath the shell
Alive is what I feel
As I bathe
I dance
Wildly
And I grab your hand
Pull you in to this shower
You join me
And smile your gorgeous smile
And know that it is time
To feel this washing away
Of everything that has been heavy
It is time
To feel the pure quenching
Of your soul’s thirst
Replenish me, rain
Thank you for the washing
Thank you for the dance
It covers me fully
Alive is what I feel
